cLIeNUX /.sbi/ABOUT 19980917 rah

This directory is /sbin. In cLIeNUX there is also a symlink to /sbin named
/utilities.

Normally /bin is for the most fundamental commands on the system, and
/.us/local/bin and /.us/bin are for the fun stuff. /sbin and other ../sbin
directories are for admin-only stuff.
cLIeNUX has a lot of stuff in /bin that's usually in /sbin because
cLIeNUX assumes the user IS the admin. You don't need to protected from
accessing your own hardware.

Normally /sbin is for stuff that's basic, but not for plain users.
The things here in cLIeNUX are here because something depending on them
was rigidly hardwired to /.sbi/whatever, OR, they are things that cLIeNUX
de-emphasizes by definition, namely Internet *servers* such as the
telnet daemon. In other words, running telnetd, allowing shells, IS real
admin stuff, you are opening your box to the world, and possibly
developing obligations to others, unlike mounting a floppy and so on.

The development utilities needed to build a large C sourcecode package,
such as the Linux kernel, are also in here, since they are not often
called by the user by name.
