GNU autosystem is a tool for constructing a "system.h" header file
from a "configure.in" script written for GNU autoconf. The system.h
file tries to hide as many system dependencies as possible; in
particular it includes all the #if magic from the autoconf manual.

The copyright on the output of autosystem is probably still the GPL.
We will have to get a special dispensation from the Autoconf author(s)
to use the code from the manual in any other way, I think.

Autosystem is still pre-release software:

* In order to use autosystem, you must put "AC_SYSTEM_HEADER" into your
configure.in. However, this is not supported by autoconf.

* There is absolutely no documentation of autosystem.

* None of the other autosystem-specific macros (eg AC_FEATURE_EXIT)
  are implemented in autoconf.

Send bug reports to `tromey@cygnus.com. A bug report is an adequate
description of the problem: your input, what you expected, what you
got, and why this is wrong. Diffs are welcome, but they only describe
a solution, from which the problem might be uneasy to infer.
