The newst source code of dialog is on susix.jura.uni-sb.de in the directory
/pub/linux/source/libc/ncurses/.
More stable releases will be uploaded to sunsite.unc.edu into the directory
/pub/Linux/utils/shell/.

dialog-list@redhat.com is a mailinglist for the discussion about
further development of dialog. To join the mailinglist do:
"echo subscribe dialog-list First_Name Last_Name | mail listproc@redhat.com".

dialog is typically invoked from a shell script and puts nice
yes-no/checklist/radio-button - menues on your screen.
(Text is just passed on as arguments to dialog.)

This version of dialog should be compatible with all prior versions.

Please use ncurses-1.9.4 or newer with this dialog release. It's really worth
it. (prep.ai.mit.edu or ftp.netcom.com/pub/zm/zmbenhal/ncurses.)
If you have problems compiling dialog, you might have to change the
source code to use '<ncurses.h>' instead of the now used '<curses.h>'.

Thanks a lot,

Florian La Roche florian@jurix.jura.uni-sb.de

TODO:
- don't compile code with M_EVENT, if not compiling with mouse support
- add support for autoconf back in, but as I don't like it really, I also
want to keep a Makefile.old, that I will use.
autoconf is not really necessary for dialog to be compiled...
- pre-selected checklists
- have No as default in the YesNo box (inverted pre-selection)
- better editing in input-boxes
- have selection ala Emacs C-s in menu and checklist
(type in the starting letters of an item)
- PgUp/PgDn
- mouse-support should be checked/maybe redone. The ncurses-people will
add mouse support to ncurses, can we use that?
- recheck HAVE_NCURSES. Ncurses can be compiled on lots of platforms, maybe
we should just support ncurses and everybody needs to install it.
(I'll do this, it is a good idea. Just gimme time.)
- redo help message (didn't like 0.62, but haven't done much better yet...)
- write an INSTALL file
- react to SIGWINCH
- negative sizes on commandline refer to distance from the border
- new rc file format
- man page for the library functions (once the interface is better)
- better handling of errors in the textbox
- A tk interface that selects nice X11-menues on a graphics screen and
  textboxes on a normal textscreen.
