sysstat: the "sar" and "iostat" commands for the Linux operating system...
--
This version of the sysstat package contains major changes since version 1.2,
in particular patches for Linux kernels 2.2.x.
It still has to be improved... In particular, options for SMP machines have not
been extensively tested (although numerous bugs have been fixed) since I only
have a Simple Mono-Processing computer ;-)

To build sar and iostat, just enter:

	make

then log in as root and enter

	make install

Before, it may be interesting to edit the Makefile to change some configuration
variables, for instance if you want to choose installation directories or
if you want National Language Support (disabled by default).

See the README-patch file in the patch directory to learn some more about the
patches provided with 'sysstat'.

Of course tell me if there are any problems. This is the only way I can improve
'sysstat'.

NB: The sar and iostat commands are only front-ends to the kernel proc
filesystem... They cannot display statistics that Linux does not
provide, nor can they be more accurate than Linux is.
The sysstat package has been tested on Linux kernels 2.0.x and 2.2.x.
It has been designed with NLS support in mind, using the GNU gettext
package. At the present time, english, french and german translations
    are available.
You are welcome if you want to provide other languages ;-)
