CONFIGURATION PROBLEMS (in order of importance):
o Some jpeg files are ignored and show: "error: magic number is wrong !" on
console. Or, in worse case, guash or gimp crashes!
The message is an output of gfli file handler, which uses a very simple
magic number to check whether the file is fli or not. Thus headers of
some jpeg files are matched as fli format. If you want to solve this
problem immediately, delete gfli from /usr/local/lib/gimp/1.*/plug-ins.
Or recompile it with NULL for the magic string (if you are very familiar
with the internal of the gimp).

If a jpeg picture that you took by a digital camera tends to crash
guash or gimp, suspect this case. The header of the picture might
contain a string: "Exif" as a magic number instead of the
       jpeg-signature: "Jpeg".

o Guash crashes after displaying the message:
Gdk-CRITICAL **: file gdkim.c: line 1173 (gdk_ic_get_attr): assertion `ic != NULL' failed.

You use the recent glib/gtk/gimp snapshot (with i18n switch) and set
locale env. variables (LC_*), doesn't you? Please update gimp.

o Browsing MS-windows directories crashes the gimp with the following message:
** WARNING: **: a calling error occured while trying to run: "gimp_file_load"

	Give up. Who's the killer?

o Both of guash and gimp crashes on directory which contains a gzip-ed file,
with the following message:

| ** WARNING **: a calling error occured while trying to run: "gimp_file_load"

or

| ** ERROR **: file gz.c: line 197 (run): assertion failed: (FALSE)
| aborting...
| wire_read: unexpected EOF (plug-in crashed?)

First try to delete gfli plug-in from the distribution directory.
I think the problem by the other reasons was fixed.

o Strange! Guash crashes at g_realloc/g_malloc/g_renew... And I can't open
any image from the thumbnail panel.
YES STRANGE! Please reconfigure glib without --enable-mem-check !
(glib version is the snapshot at Jan 22 00:26:58 1999, before 1.1.14.)

o compilation failure: make says "/bin/sh: gtk-config: command not found"
This means gtk was not installed correctly. Or your gtk+ is too old
	one. Install gtk+1.0.1 or upper.

NOTE: if you are using gimp-1.0.X, then install gtk+-1.0.X and don't
install gtk+-1.1.X which is only for gimp-1.1.X .

o compilation failure on debian 2.0/1.3:
At least, the following debian packages are required. OK?

	libgtk provides libgtk.so.1.0.0
	libgtk-dev	provides gtk/gtk.h
	libgimp provides libgimp.so.1.0.0
	libgimp-dev	provides libgimp/gimp.h
	xlib6(g)	provides libXi.so.6 (libXext.so.6)
	xlib6(g)-dev	provides libXi.so (libXext.so)

and if you use/install gtk+-1.1.X, libglib and libglib-dev will be
	also required.

o how to deal with photoCD?
Use xhpcd plug-in, which is registered.
