Game Extractor is a program that reads and writes archives used in games. All games use a
collection of sound, image, and video resources to create the environment for the player. These
resources are usually stored in large archive files, which are not accessible by standard
programs. Thus Game Extractor was created, to address this need.

Apart from reading and writing archives, Game Extractor does many other things to help you out,
such as previewing files and converting them to different formats, scanning for basic files in
unsupported archives, adding and removing files, and searching. Program updates, and support for
new games, can be added by downloading a self-installing update from the website.

Game Extractor requires you to have Java Runtime Environment 6.0 (or 1.6) or later installed on
your computer, otherwise it will not be able to run. Java Runtime Environment is available to
download for free on most operating systems, from http://www.java.com , or you can find direct
download links on the Game Extractor website.

When you install Game Extractor, you will have icons created in your Start Menu which will run
the program. If one of the icons does not work, try one of the other icons. If you are unable to
get any of the icons to work, follow the instructions below, which can also be found on the
Game Extractor website with screenshots.

If you are running a non-Windows operating system, these instructions are also for you.

                                 Preferred Windows Method
1. Install Java Runtime Environment 6.0 (or 1.6) or later

   c. GameExtractor.jar

                        All Operating Systems (including Windows)
