*** Standard source code ***

To compile the standard (non-KDevelop) source code, simply perform the usual steps:

  $ tar zxf konch-1.00.tar.gz
  $ cd konch-1.00
  $ ./configure
  $ make
  $ su
  Password:
  # make install

*** KDevelop source code ***

Untar the file you downloaded, and open konch.kdevelop from within KDevelop. You can just press F8 and let KDevelop run automake and friends to build the project.

If you want to compile the sources from the command line, there's an extra step to take:

  $ tar zxf konch-1.00-kdevelop.tar.gz
  $ cd konch-1.00-kdevelop
  $ make -f Makefile.cvs
  $ ./configure
  $ make
  $ su
  Password:
  # make install

*** Compiling with rpmbuild ***

Also included in the source tarball is a simple RPM specfile. If your system uses RPM and you have a proper rpmbuild environment, you may try something like the following:

  $ rpmbuild -tb konch-1.00.tar.gz
  ...
  Wrote: /home/alex/rpmbuild/RPMS/i386/konch-1.00-1.i386.rpm
  ...
  $ su -
  Password:
  # rpm -Uvh /home/alex/rpmbuild/RPMS/i386/konch-1.00-1.i386.rpm

This works with the standard and KDevelop tarballs. You can also rebuild the source RPM:

  $ rpmbuild --rebuild konch-1.00.src.rpm

*** Compiling the SVN sources ***

After obtaining the SVN sources, compilation is much the same as with a KDevelop tarball:

  $ cd konch
  $ make -f Makefile.cvs
  $ ./configure
  $ make
  $ su
  Password:
  # make install

If you want to use KDevelop, copy the project template file first:

  $ cd konch
  $ cp konch.kdevelop.tmpl konch.kdevelop

*** Enabling final/non-debug builds ***

You can make compilation go faster, generate smaller binaries, and exclude debug output by using the following configure line:

  $ ./configure --disable-debug --enable-final
