INSTALLATION

Tranches uses the scons build system.
You also need the following libraries:
		-fltk (if gui is enabled)
		-libxml2
		-alsa
		-jack
		-lash (if lash is enabled)

To build Tranches, type the following commands followed by enter:
		tar zxf tranches-0.1.0.tar.gz
		cd tranches-0.1.0/
scons -h (or scons -h lang=fr for a french version)
	Then follow the instructions.

EXECUTION

Make sure you have the jack server running.

	GUI VERSION:
double-click on the tranches file in the tranches directory, or select tranches
from your desktop environnement's menu (usually in the multimedia section)

	COMMAND-LINE VERSION:
Then just type ./tranches in the tranches directory, or directly tranches if it was installed in /usr/bin.
You can specify a .tra file to be loaded like this : tranches example.tra.
See the example.tap file in this directory for comments on editing the tap files

HOW DOES IT WORK ?

Tranches allows you to take a part ("slice") of an input stream and make several operations on it. The processed slice is redirected to the output port of your choice.
You can create as many input ports as you want, you then select the input you want to process with a midi CC, and if the value sent to the program is higher than the number of input ports, it will process all the inputs at the same time.
Tranches creates a dry output for each input so when you are not processing an input, it is directly sent to the corresponding dry output.

ENJOY !

I hope you'll enjoy this program, feel free to ask for features (and of course bugs corrections !!)
I'd really like to know how you use Tranches and what kind of music you make with it.

	Flo
